Compare every registered storefront, bank and online service in your city, ranked by a method you can check, with rates measured against the Bank of Canada daily rate.
This is the mid market rate. No bank or exchange offers it. Every markup on this site is measured against it.
Exchanging a large sum is confusing. Banks hide the cost inside the rate, storefronts quote by phone, and online services all claim to be cheapest. This site does the checking for you.
Pick your city. We list every currency exchange storefront there that appears in the public FINTRAC registry, plus the banks and online services that serve it.
Every provider is scored out of 100 on six factors: BBB record, FINTRAC registration, rate against the Bank of Canada daily rate, Canadian head office, Google reviews and years in business. The full method is on every page.
We phone every listed storefront on the same day and publish the USD markup with the date. Rates move daily, so confirm before you exchange.
Snowbirds move the most money of any group we see. The cheapest route is usually bank to bank, not cash.
See the snowbird guideFive and six figure transfers where a one percent difference is thousands of dollars. Compare online services first, then your bank.
Small amounts, same day. A dedicated storefront beats the bank and the airport every time.
Find one in your cityUSD, EUR, GBP, AUD and NZD by wire. Compare the all in cost, not the advertised fee.
We only list businesses that appear in the public FINTRAC money services business registry and that we have confirmed are open. Closed shops, payday lenders and Bitcoin ATMs that pad other lists do not appear here.
Once you are moving $2,000 or more and do not need bills in hand, an online bank to bank service usually costs less than a storefront or a bank branch. These services move money between accounts, so there is no cash markup and no security risk.

It depends on the amount and whether you need cash. For cash, a registered storefront in your city almost always beats a bank branch and the airport. For amounts above a few thousand dollars where you do not need bills, an online bank to bank service is usually cheaper. Pick your city above to see the ranked list.
Enter your city in the search box. We list every storefront in that city that appears in the FINTRAC registry, ranked by score, with the USD markup we were quoted by phone and the date we called.
Yes. Any business that exchanges currency must register with FINTRAC as a money services business. Registration is a legal baseline, not an endorsement. Every provider on this site has been checked against the public registry on the date shown.
That is the mid market rate, the midpoint between what banks pay each other. No retail customer gets it. Every bank and exchange adds a markup, usually built into the rate rather than shown as a fee. That is why we measure every provider against the Bank of Canada daily rate.
Canadian banks typically build about 2.5 to 3.5 percent into their exchange rate. The better storefronts and online services we have checked sit between about 0.5 and 1.5 percent. The gap on your own transaction depends on the amount and the day, so compare quotes before you commit.
No. Providers cannot pay to be listed, ranked or removed. Corrections can be requested through the report an error page and are reviewed against the same sources used to score everyone.
